Simple Etiquette When Cruising In Yacht Charter

By Freida Michael

While going for a cruise, you have to expect that you will be dealing with crew members. When you do, be sure to stay polite with them. You must provide them with the respect that they are due. If you want to experience a good cruise, here are the etiquette you have to note when on board a yacht charter Oxnard.

First, it is your job to let them know you have arrived. This is so that they can address you. Also, ensure that you ask for their permission first before you board the boat. They might be cleaning or there might be some reasons for otherwise. It is the polite thing for you to do to ask them for permission before boarding the cruise.

When wearing shoes, avoid stepping on the deck with them on. As much as possible, you should board on the cruiser barefoot or with socks on. If you must wear footwear, you have to wear slippers or smoother footwear. Doing that allows you to avoid putting a hole into the deck or damaging the deck.

Before departing from the docks, it is natural to be briefed with the safety tips you must follow when at sea. The pre-departure briefing is to ensure that everyone will stay safe even when the shore is already far off. You must listen to the briefing since they help keep you safe and even make your cruise more comfortable.

During boarding, you will be taught how to handle the basic systems on the boat. These systems include, but are not limited to, the electrical outlets, toilets, lights, water and showers, and such. Once you know how to handle the basic systems on the boat, you can avoid disrupting the daily work of the crew.

You might be chartering kids with you on the cruise. Just remember that chartering the kids does not mean you will have to treat the crew as babysitters. That is not included in their job description. They have their daily jobs to do so you have to pay attention to your own children. However, most of the crews are child-friendly so there should be no problem.

Community spaces are common in boats. That is why it is highly recommended to pay attention to your belongings when in these community spaces. If you must bring your stuff, like hats, towels, toiletries, sunglasses, and clothing, to these community spaces, better put the in day packs. The community spaces are the main living space and saloon.

When in the cruise, the one who sets the rules is the captain. The captain decides whether or not to go through with the cruise. They might say otherwise when the weather is not good or when there is time constraints. The captain will only suggest going out of the schedule for the cruise for your own safety.

It should be okay to dine ashore. The broker or the crew can arrange this for you. If you are planning to dine ashore, do not forget to treat the captain and the crew as well. Even if this is an optional thing to do, know that they will really appreciate this sweet gesture.
