More On Whale Watching Channel Islands

By Shawn Hunter

Whales are known to have a memory of the path they used since they were born, they mostly use the same path throughout their lives and will only change it if it proves to be dangerous for them or makes them uncomfortable due to many distractions. This observation makes many people fascinated with the whales and makes them want to have a close encounter with the animals. Their massive sizes also attract a huge crowd as they want to see them gracefully moving thus Whale watching Channel Islands.

Off shore sites at the Santa Barbara makes this channel island a watchers paradise. This is because they have the privilege of having to watch the humpback whale from close proximity of their migratory route and also the privilege of seeing for themselves first-hand the behavior of these mammals in its natural habitat. The Barbara stretch offers a nostalgic view that most watcher would dream of.

In the Marine sanctuary of Anacapa there exist the killer whales, also known as the orcas. Its known for its beauty and the beast behavior. This is because it has a very attractive outlook comprising of black and white coats yet its a stealthy killer, it has been recorded that the orca is among the only few whales that come to shore in order to get their catch. By nature it is a smart animal and great hunter.

The blue one, is the largest mammal roaming the sea, by nature its a calm giant and it rarely attacks any other animal and to make things more complex it is a herbivore thus no flesh eating, more often than not this leviathan mammal is viewed in the Santa Cruz stretch of the sea. It is a favorite spot for the rare grey whale. Despite its low numbers on the seas across the board it is frequently seen in this park in thus making it a tourism hotspot.

A couple of decades ago this activity was not a thing to be talked about rather than be watched the whales were killed for their elegance and massive size as they provided food for the masses and also cooking fat. Slowly but surely this notion began to change as a number of people slowly started enjoying the scenes caused by whales and eventually turned this act into an income generating activity.

The size and nature of these beautiful sea creatures amazes a huge number of people. This has not only being seen among the watchers but also the scientists who encamp along the migratory routes to catch a glimpse and know more about the animals in question.

In many occasions the Channel Islands offers many a chance to view the whales. This is an adventurous way of appreciating nature and its beauty and more makes it a means to earn a living for some people who work towards making these watching events possible.
